Planning a wedding

If you are getting married you are about to embark on two amazing adventures - the first, of course, being your life as a wedded couple and the second being the exciting, yet often overwhelming process of planning a wedding. A wedding will probably be the biggest and most involved party or ritual either of you have ever put together.

However a wedding with all the traditional elements requires meticulous planning and concentrated effort.

To make sure you think of everything, you may consider hiring a wedding planner or consultant. Especially if you are a busy person, or just feel a little lost, a professional help can be invaluable in putting together your ideal day and can often save you money.

Miss Huma Durrani, the CTS`s highly valued Client Care team-member, celebrated her own wedding last year. She has already planned and arranged everything for the party and has even enjoyed all the last steps of the wedding preparation. To give some help for those, who are in the initial steps of a wedding or only just thinking about it, we asked Huma to provide some practical advice how to start.

Huma, what do you think is the first and most important step of preparing a wedding party?

Setting the date of the ceremony is the vital start to the wedding. It is definitely the first question everyone will ask you, but you’d be surprised how difficult it will be to make any progress on planning your wedding without knowing the exact date.

We decided out dates just a few months after our engagement and only a few months before the wedding date, so the past year for me has been a roller coaster ride.”

Now that you’ve made all the more difficult arrangements, you are enjoying the fun part of the preparation, like dresses, tuxes, flowers and music. Could you give some practical advice to the couples?

Firstly, make a list of all the things you need to purchase and do because there are tonnes of important things which can naturally be easily forgotten; cross them off the list as you go along. Crossing off an item off the list can actually sometimes make you feel relieved and less stressed!

Communication!! This is a key element which should exist between you and your partner and the families involved in order to co-ordinate everything perfectly for your perfect wedding.”

“Lastly, the main thing I would advise all couples is to enjoy and have fun with all the arrangements, it may seem stressful and there will be a lot going on at the same time but preparing and looking forward to your wedding is a life time experience so make the most of it!!!”
