My Name is Khan

‘My Name is Khan’ is hugely different from any other Karan Johan movie that's hit our screens as the story takes on one of the toughest yet most ever present, deep seated issues of our time.'

‘My Name Is Khan’ it’s the movie that has gotten everybody across the world talking and all rushing to their local cinemas to catch a glimpse of what critics had promised would be; the movie of the year.

Immediate makings of cinematic gold

Starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol and directed by Karan Johar; ‘My Name is Khan’ had the immediate makings of cinematic gold; Kajol and Shahrukh alongside each other brings to mind those great images of ‘Dil Walhe Dulhania Le Jayenge’ and ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, they literally are an onscreen match made in heaven.

Bollywood’s biggest stars

Round up the chemistry and pizzazz that is provided by two of Bollywood’s biggest stars with the movie making skills of Karan Johar and you literally had a recipe for success, but the question is, did it do it?

Society that has been shaken to the core

Director Johar essentially described the movie as a love story, yet it is the deep seated political issues that have managed to get people across the world talking. ‘My Name is Khan’ follows Rizwan and Mandira attempt to live ‘normal’ lives in a society that has been shaken to the core by the disasters of the 9/11attacks.

Effecting countless people throughout the world

The movie aims to attack the problem effecting countless people throughout the world; why are so many innocent Muslims now paying the price for the atrocious actions of those few? And thus ‘My Name is Khan’ aims to resolve, or shall we say find some level of answer as to why the world is now in such social and political chaos; Rizwan Khan goes on a journey through the United States of America to tell the President that just because he is Muslim, does not make him a terrorist.

Shahrukh Khan, a man who has obtained nothing short of a legendary status

‘My Name is Khan’ has well and truly begun its reign of power and we don’t doubt that a majority of you cued up to get your look at the man himself in action; Mr Shahrukh Khan, a man who has obtained nothing short of a legendary status within Bollywood.

No doubt his biggest film to date

However, despite all the excitement and all around interest surrounding the movie, Shahrukh Khan initially stated his nerves at what is no doubt his biggest film to date; particularly following the backlash that he received from a radical group in India, however the films brilliance and the realism and emotion, have made this character as memorable as the rest.

My Name is Khan’ so magical

What adds to the magic of Shahrukh performance is his co-star, but as we all know, she is more than just a co star; she is literally the pièce de résistance; Kajol alongside Shahrukh Khan is just what makes a movie like ‘My Name is Khan’ so magical. Their work together has literally made them an institution; with performances alongside each other they have made films like ‘Dil Walhe Dulhania le Jayenge’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ into movie history.
