Letters to Juliet

Letters to Juliet has hit the UK cinema screens and has received carried feedback. Letters to Juliet follows a young American women played by Amanda Seyfried as she travels to the romantic city of Verona, home of the famous and much loved star crossed lover Juliet Capulet from Shakespeare’s inspiring Romeo and Juliet. From there she joins a group of volunteers who dedicate their lives to the romantic tale by responding to letters to Juliet seeking advice on all romantic matters. Upon answering one letter dated 1951, she inspires its author Vanessa Redgrave to travel back to Italy in search of her long-lost soul mate. This sets off a huge chain of events that sees the most powerful of love enter both of the ladies lives.

Sadly it is as predictable as it sounds and despite the beauty of Verona and the quaint romantic charm it falls short of being refreshing and falls into the zone of so many forgotten love stories. Its poor dialogue and complete lack of originality is the films great down fall.
