The Features have hit the UK and have taken it by storm!
The Features are an amazing amalgamation of earthy, pent up soul and jagged rock. A sound that cannot be compared to any other band, they are truly original. Whilst watching their recent gig at the Birmingham Academy I was mesmerised by their passion and their energetic performance.
I was struck by the singer’s voice that commanded the academy stage with such energy and poignant passion. His voice has a lingering rawness that immediately appeals to an audience. Their songs are catchy, with amazing rhythm and musicians whose skills I can only describe as groundbreaking. They appeared to be swept away in their music, the focus was incredible and the result was a performance one can only describe as astounding.
Sadly there were several in the audience who perhaps didn’t agree with me, or didn’t care enough to listen. For many it seems that this gig was just an opportunity to meet up with friends and chat with obnoxious glee, providing a less than pleasant hum to the atmosphere. The Features lead singer even paused in between songs to remark on the amount of talking but still dozens of audience members remained loud and positively annoying. The Features showed their truly colours by being able to keep on task and provide a performance that was not only memorable but unique.
I have to say that I had never seen a drummer play in bare feet and leap into the air to come back to earth in a perfectly timed manner. Such enthusiasm, talent and beauty is rarely seen and even more rarely heard but The Features have managed the impossible and stamped their signature sound on our ears. They are set for big things.
